Very simply put, landscaping is the process of beautifying or modifying a piece of land.

Landscaping can be done almost anywhere. It’s the process of beautifying an area with props and items like, waterfall structures, ponds with fishes, pots of plants, flowers, pebbles, statues, garden swings and much more.

You don’t have to modify your area into a jungle. Just imagine a few pots of pretty plants, colourful flowers and maybe a waterfall that doesn’t take up much space and electricity.

There are many reasons why you should think of getting Landscaping done for that barren piece of land.

Firstly, a home is incomplete without plants. There isn’t much maintenance to worry about and plants produce ample of oxygen. In closed-areas like offices, again, plants play a great part in spreading oxygen.

Secondly, landscaping your garden or backyard can create a positive and calm setting for the mind. So, this point need not only apply to homes, but also clinics, hospitals, schools and offices.

Thirdly, landscaping that empty space in your garden can increase the value of your property in the market. You’ll be surprised at the wonders a patio, ponds and walkways can do to enhance the value of your property. The more beautiful your home, the more sellable and demanding it becomes.

Landscaping can be done in a HDB settings as well. All you need is a good Landscape Designer/Architect to work out a plan with reference to the space you have.

Landscaping can give a great face-lift to an empty area or space.

This house had a portioned grassy area on the left with a growing tree, which has been transformed into a neat and green space which will be used for ‘chill out sessions’ by its owners.

The design is very simple and not many items have been used to adorn this space. Apart from the tall flowers, which are called the Heliconia, the plants which have broad leaves that can be used to block intruders from peeking in, there is also a tree. Most designs have special landscape features and in this case, it’s the tree.

To emphasize the shape of the garden and create a little division between the plants and patio, they have used cylinder-shaped stones. They idea of having a certain shape is to make it look more organized and neat and to create a divide.

Vertical elements such as walls, trellises, arbors, fences or porches go well with flowers. The stoned wall in this picture is not only used for ‘privacy’ but also serves well as a great background for the flowers and plants because of their dull, and earth texture. In return, the tall flowers liven up the stoned wall.

Most designs have special landscape features and in this case, it’s the trees. The Palm trees in this landscape design stand out prominently and also serve the purpose of blocking intruders from looking in.

The stepping stones are a common feature used in garden landscape designs. In this picture they have chosen concrete slabs as a cheaper alternative.
