Juno was the Queen of all the gods and goddesses of Ancient Rome. Romans used to have a public holiday in her honour on Feburary 14th.

The emperor Clandius II decided to ban this practice as young men were reluctant to go to war because they wanted to be with their sweethearts. The emperor banned all weddings.

The Pope of that time, St. Valentine would marry the lovers in secret. He was caught eventually and executed. But this tradition of love continues till today.
